Goodbye to Hometown
Raveloe was a small village. Not many people lived there and most of the people knew each other. Silas Marner lived there, too. He came to Raveloe fifteen years ago.
He was a lonely man with an ordinary life but people found him strange because they knew nothing about him. He did not talk much. He did not have any friends.
He worked at his cottage. He was a weaver. He used a loom to make cloth quickly.
